I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker working exclusively with our elder population; bringing individual psychotherapy to elders where they feel the most comfortable, in their home. Our elder patients often face challenges when coping with difficult life transitions, loss of independence, retirement; loss of loved one; anxiety, depression; cognitive impairments or physical decline. Through my practice, I create an atmosphere of safety, acceptance, and support while helping my patients manage their challenges and maintain their quality of life. I incorporate person-centered therapy and validation modalities; when warranted I collaborate with family caregivers as well patient physicians.
I have been in the helping profession for 15 years. I hold a Certification in Aging from Brookdale Center for Healthy Aging and a graduate degree specialization in Older Adults and their Families from Hunter College School of Social Work. I am certified by the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America as a Certified Dementia Care Partner (CDCP).
I made a career change in the late 90’s; after 20 years as VP of Sales and Marketing in an educational publishing company. I became a full time caregiver for both of my parents, garnishing the skills/expertise/experience gained along the way. I pursued post grad degrees/training enabling me to open my private practice: geriatric home-visiting providing psychotherapy to elders.
Insurance accepted: Medicare part B. Private pay; sliding scale when appropriate.
